I haven't had much time for sewing lately...work has been crazy-stressful, and the kids have just been needy. Plus, my old Kenmore sewing machine needed fixing (which was totally due to a mistake my husband and I made when we changed the belt...it just took a while to see where we made the mistake) which took more time away from sewing.
I did make a few things, though.
This was supposed to be a rail fence quilt, but I don't think the rails will be really obvious because of the way I mixed all the colors together. It'll still be pretty, though. Since this picture was taken I also finished a second row of blocks, but I haven't sewed the two rows together. Since there are only four rows, I'm almost halfway done with the quilt top! Well, not counting the border.
I also finished my first spiderweb block. The triangle on the left is the one I made first, and as you can see, I kind of messed it up. So my first block isn't great, but it also isn't terrible, so I'm counting that as a victory.
So fun!

First block done
So I finished my first block for the In Color Order Block of the Month project.
I am DYING over the fact that I can't get a picture that does a good job of showing the colors. In all the photos I took the colors just look washed out, but in real life the turquoise and green are very mellow and pretty, especially against my gray wall.
Again...previous homeowners...gray fake wood paneling...WHY?
Anyway, I think it turned out nicely. I hung it on my wall just to see the colors and the size, but now I almost don't want to take it down. Even my husband likes it...he said it was very geometric, a diamond inside a square inside an octagon inside a square.
I wish I didn't have to wait until February for the next block. At least I have projects to keep me busy...I have my rail fence quilt (although I don't think it'll read as a rail fence quilt, it'll still be pretty) and a project to do for the Metafilter Craft Exchange. Plus, this weekend I'm going to go out to my parents' house and my mom has a stack of fabric for me from another quilter who's cleaning out her stash. I'm so excited...I have so much to do!

Block of the Month
I'm so doing this!
I'm kind of excited, although I really don't need another quilting project. But I think I'm going to take each square, quilt and bind them separately, and then hang them in a grid on the wall in my bedroom. Not only will it look neat, it'll let me practice quilting and binding, which I need to do.
So excited!
